Usually a few hours, sometimes less. If your NBN® box is already installed and working, we use NBN®'s transfer process — your old service drops when ours kicks in, typically within the same business day. If a technician visit is needed (new connections, some FTTP upgrades), allow 1–3 business days after the appointment. We'll keep you updated either way.
Probably not. If you're on HFC, FTTC, or FTTP, your existing router will work — the NBN® box handles the physical connection, your router just plugs into it. If you're on FTTN or FTTB, you need a VDSL2-capable modem (most routers bought in the last 5 years qualify). If you're not sure, check the model number and we can tell you.
Yes, with one caveat: we require 30 days notice to cancel. That's not a lock-in — it's just enough time to process the disconnection and stop billing cleanly. You won't be charged a break fee. You won't be held to a minimum term. Give us notice, and your service ends at the 30-day mark.
This is the dirty secret of cheap NBN plans. ISPs buy capacity (called CVC) from nbn® in bulk, and under-provisioned ISPs run it hot during the 7–11pm peak. The result: 100Mbps plans that crawl at single digits when everyone gets home from work. We provision our CVC generously so that doesn't happen. The "typical evening speed" figures on our plan pages are honest ones.
First bills are almost always higher because they cover two things at once: a pro-rata charge from your activation date to your billing cycle start, plus a full month in advance. So your first bill can be 1.5–2× the normal monthly amount. After that, it settles into the regular monthly charge. We'll show you the breakdown clearly.
Us. Always us. nbn® is a wholesaler with no obligation to talk to you directly — your contract is with hiwave. When something goes wrong, contact our support team and we'll diagnose it. If it turns out to be an NBN® network fault, we lodge and chase the ticket with nbn® on your behalf. You shouldn't have to deal with that loop yourself.
